Flonase is an anti-inflammatory nasal spray that relieves nasal symptoms caused by seasonal allergies. Flonase reduces the inflammation that leads to symptoms such as itch runny nose and sneezing. How Flonase works

Use Flonase regularly as directed by your doctor. Do not take extra doses or stop taking Flonase without consulting your doctor. Never use more than two sprays in each nostril (200 mcg) per day. After 120 sprays discard the bottle even if the bottle is not completely empty. Remember, it may take a few weeks to experience results with Flonase. Talk to your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse.Flonase precautions
Do not take Flonase with an oral corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are anti-inflammatory medications that help treat asthma and other chronic lung diseases. If you have been taking an oral steroid for a long period of time and you’ve just switched to Flonase use with caution. People who switch to Flonase after taking oral steroids aren’t able to heal as well after surgery, infection, or serious injury. Also, if you switch to Flonase from oral steroids you may notice certain conditions worsen such as asthma, eczema, and arthritis.
What to tell your doctorIf you are pregnant or nursing talk to your doctor about the potential risks involved with using Flonase. To avoid a potentially deadly side effect, let your doctor know if you are taking an oral corticosteriod before you begin treatment with Flonase. Corticosteroids are anti-inflammatory medications that are used to treat asthma and other chronic lung diseases. The absorption of Flonase into your system can inhibit your body’s ability to fight off infections. Before using Flonase, tell your doctor if you have a viral or bacterial infection.
Flonase side effectsCommon side effects of Flonase include: stinging or burning of the nose, sneezing after application, yeast infection in the nose, nose bleeding, cough, perforated septum (inside center of nose), increased pressure in the eyes, headache, lightheadedness, nausea, asthma, nasal stuffiness or runny nose, or unpleasant taste and smell. Stop using Flonase and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, face, or hives.
