Caffeine may help get rid of migraines

For many people, it’s a morning necessity: having at least one cup of coffee filled with caffeine. And a new study says caffeine can be beneficial to headache sufferers.

According to Dr. Charles Sand, emergency physician at St. Joseph’s hospital, “Caffeine can change blood vessels and send glucose to the brain. Caffeine is good initially and can help.”

But Dr. Sand says it’s all in moderation. If you drink two to three cups of coffee a day and then take medication, “You can really overdo it.”

But caffeine won't be the cure-all for everyone. For some people, caffeine can actually bring on headaches.

So, whether you get caffeine from coffee, tea, soft drinks or chocolate, be sure to take it in moderation.
